A director of Australian Stock Exchange listed geothermal energy company Greenearth Energy Ltd recently visited Israel to examine renewable energy technologies.
Greenearth Energy's Rob Annells concluded a short visit to Israel with Ruvi Herzog, director of the Herzog Group of Companies, and Craig Morgan, chief executive of electricity generation products group Pacific Heat and Power. The visit included meetings with Israeli alternative energy companies Zenith Solar and Aora Solar, and attendance at Israel's Cleantech Conference. Commenting after his return to Australia, Mr Annells described the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot as the "real back-bone" of Israel's alternative energy technologies. "It's a pity that in this country(Australia) we haven't used the same model. That Institute is working an absolute treat for Israel, and its economy and is pretty much self-sustaining now; the royalty stream is so huge that it doesn't cost the Israel Government anything." Mr Annells said he treasured Australia's association with Israel. "I think Australia has got a wonderful opportunity to develop things with Israel. I'm very proud to have been; this was the third time and I'm looking forward to the fourth. "Israel is going about its business making the most of the meagre resources it has got compared to what we have in Australia. We're just so fortunate here but I don't think we're making the most of it in some areas. It's an alliance which I certainly intend to keep fostering and developing, and there's a lot to be achieved between the two countries. "They're doing some very interesting research there in a number of fields that are very pertinent to Australia right now. From our point of view there's a wonderful opportunity to do technology deals with Israel and secure Australian and Pacific rights so we can get out there and test market their technology, which will strengthen their assault on Europe and North America. It's a good deal for both countries." Mr Annells also paid tribute to the support he had received from the Israel=Australia Chamber of Commerce. "I would like to congratulate Paul Israel on the tremendous job he is doing for the Chamber in Israel. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was organised just perfectly. You've got Marcus here and Paul in Israel, and they work together beautifully and do a wonderful job." Press release published by Seeking Media. http://www.seekingmedia.com.au/ |
