Australian-Owned Tennis Competition Set to Become Biggest in the WorldThursday 28th January 2010 | 9:18 AM« Back to ListingWith competitions already underway in Australia, Hong Kong and China, this week saw the commencement of the first USA comps. Under the guidance of newly appointed Atlanta-based Xpoint USA Director, Mark McMahon, Xpoint competitions in 11 US states will commence during February. The recent signings are set to catapult Xpoint to the largest grassroots tennis competition in the world. It is estimated that in-excess of 50,000 players will compete in Xpoint competitions in 2010. "It really is the perfect product for the US tennis market" said Mr McMahon, the former USPTA Director of nine years. "The web-based system for managing Xpoint competitions, coupled with a professional rewards program and International Playing Rating system clearly sets Xpoint apart as the best in the world today. Xpoint really is the buzz topic in the US tennis industry right now. It's clearly the best new innovation to hit the world tennis market in many years", said Mr McMahon. The Asian rollout is being overseen by former Australian Davis Cup player, and Xpoint Asia Director, Mark Kratzmann. "We expect to make a significant announcement regarding our launch into the lucrative Japanese market very shortly. Talks are also progressing well with a number of major operators throughout the Asian region." said Mr Kratzmann. The world-leading web-based system is already available in English, Chinese and Japanese. This news follows the announcement in late 2009 that Babolat, the French racquet manufacturer would become the official product supplier to the Xpoint game worldwide. The deal involved a substantial shareholding restructure that ensured Xpoint has the knowledge, experience and resources of key industry personnel to take it to a global market. Xpoint also recently launch the International Player Rating (iPRTM) system; the first of its kind to rate tennis players on their performances in grassroots competition. Comparable to a golf handicap, Xpoint players are able to directly compare their rating with their counterparts around the world. It allows everyday players to see where they rank globally, a privilege traditionally reserved for elite players.
