« Back to Listing
Greetings my name is Capt. Martin Toohey, the captain of the Tall Ship One & All

The One & All arrived in Melbourne from Adelaide on the 18th of Feb. Since then the One & All has taken part in the inaugural Melbourne Wooden Boat Festival and also the sail welcome for the clipper ship Stad Amsterdam.

This weekend One & All will be open for viewing at Workshop Pier, Williamstown and taking passengers out on sailing trips.

Since arriving in Melbourne I've seen a passion amongst Melbournians to come out on the ship and we're going well at reaching our target of taking out 500 adventures during this stay in Melbourne.

We've got a great schedule of  ½ day, full day and twilight sailings, there are even a few trips that are overnight between Melbourne and Geelong. Full details are available at www.woodenboat.com.au/one&all

I'm available for phone interviews please call 0428 846 693

Now a little more about myself and the ship

Capt. Martin Toohey, I have spent the last 15 years sailing the world learning and mastering the skills of sailing traditionally rigged sailing ships such as Endeavour, Batavia, Solway Lass, Bounty, Eye of the Wind ect. Like many sailors I've moved around ships and gained a vast array of experience through a range of roles.

I started my sea going career as a trainee on the W.A. sail training ship Leeuwin II when I was 17 and have been privileged to work on many beautiful and historical vessels in a number of differing roles including being ships rigger, Bosun, Mate and now Master of the One and All.

My adventures have taken me to many parts of the world with the highlights being Tahiti, America, Cost areca, Panama, Caribbean, Europe, The hole of Australia, Scandinavia and many more beautiful places.

The majority of the work I have been involved in has been working with young people from a variety of back grounds teaching them life skills (such as team work, leadership, confidence building etc) through the medium of adventure sailing. It is very interesting and rewarding work that I will be most happy to share with you and you listeners.

One & All History

The completion of One & All was the fulfilment of a dream for a dedicated group of South Australians who had been working for years to have a sail training ship operating from the State. One & All was built by W. G. Porter & Son Pty Ltd at North Haven, South Australia with assistance from a team of enthusiastic volunteers.
She was launched in 1985. Although based on the classic 1850s brigantines, One & All is no replica, being constructed of timber to the modern standards of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

Youth development is the main business of One & All. Over the years, One & All has provided memorable experiences and influenced the lives of more than 4,500 young South Australians, many of whom have gone on to be highly successful in their chosen careers.
